15 Movies You Won’t Believe Are 10 Years Old
7. Gone Baby Gone
There's something about thrillers that immediately gives them a timeless feel (assuming they aren't historically tied to a thoroughly modern moment of course), so their age tends to be the last thing you think about. The whole point of a thriller, after all, is to tell a universally terrifying story that captivates and compels no matter who is watching and no matter when.
Those markers are precisely why Gone Baby Gone is so brilliant. And given Casey Affleck's stunning, Oscar-winning turn in Manchester By The Sea, you could be forgiven for thinking that this came shortly before it, not ten years out. It's even more stunning to think that after this - and The Assassination Of Jesse James in the same year - Affleck disappeared until 2010 thanks to the weird travesty that was I'm Still Here.
On the other hand, given that Ben Affleck is now considered enough of an esteemed director to make his departure from the Batman stand-alone movie a travesty worthy of wailing about, it should come as a shock that his debut as a director happened only 10 years ago.
