15 Unforgettable Moments Which Made Guardians Of The Galaxy
15. Star-Lord Dances Through The Ruins
An emotive backstory segment leads us into The Guardians Of The Galaxy and the origin of hero Peter Quill, but we're not given much time to dwell on it - barely a few minutes into this outlandish adventure it becomes clear that this is a very different beast from Marvel Studios. Any semblance of seriousness is kicked to the curb the moment Star-Lord lands on deserted planet Morag, slips his headphones on, and breaks out into a wonderfully cheesy song 'n dance routine through the ruins. If you came into Guardians Of The Galaxy expecting the usual Marvel fare, you might be feeling a little disconcerted by this point. We're accustomed to a few light-hearted elements from our superhero movies, but this scene is something different and sets the tone for the rest of the film. It's our first glimpse of Chris Pratt in his biggest role to date, and as he sings into a squealing rat creature as an improvised microphone he instantly stamps his own playful style onto the Star-Lord character.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
