20 Coolest Tracking Shots In Movie History

4. Birdman

Birdman Times Square
Fox Searchlight

While Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Oscar-winning Birdman isn't quite the single take movie it poses as (although it's hardly coy about some of its transitional moments, for example when it shifts to static time lapse shots), there are still some exceptional, virtuosic tracking shots worth shouting about.

Riggan Thomson's "big reveal" in Times Square is a definite stand out moment - having been derobed by an uncooperative stage door, he rushes through the crowds of tourists before making his way back onto the stage to continue the play with a fake gun made of his pointed fingers. It's a superb shot, and one of Michael Keaton's finest moments.
