It doesn’t take a genius to work out that starring in successful movie franchises such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars will guarantee you a pretty healthy paycheck, but not everyone in the top-earning actor list has dressed as a superhero or fought with a lightsaber.

Avengers: Infinity War, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Mission Impossible: Fallout have topped this year's highest-grossing movies (so far), but with so many years of so many great movies, it's no surprise that some of those movies that have helped stars top this list take us back a few years.

However there are a few surprising omissions from this list from some popular names in Hollywood right now, but things could change quickly with some big movies still to come in the next few years. It seems inevitable, for instance, that Dwayne The Rock Johnson will appear on here sooner or later. And if they keep making Fast & Furious movies, Vin Diesel will also probably join him.

For now, though, neither has broken the top 20. But who has...?
