20 Most Overlooked Movies Of 2025
12. Twinless
Despite earning rave reviews since its premiere at Sundance, the deliciously twisted black comedy Twinless barely made a dent at the box office and has pretty much already vanished from the cultural conversation.
It's a damn shame, because James Sweeney's film is one of the most audaciously clever and unexpected of the year - a daring tale centered around two men (Sweeney and Dylan O'Brien) who meet at a support group for "twinless twins" grieving the loss of their other twins.
But this isn't quite the quirky, sweet Sundance indie the marketing led you to believe - it's a much darker and more interesting film with some genuine surprises up its sleeve.
Writer-director-star Sweeney confirms himself to be a major talent here, but it's O'Brien who surprises with a genuinely moving, at times volcanic performance of a young man struggling to reckon with the loss of his sibling.
Though Twinless did at least pick up a few well-deserved nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards, it hasn't made nearly the splash it deserves to.
