5 Original Script Drafts That Would Have Made Popular Movies Unrecognisable

Alien The finished draft of a film script is often completely different from what we all recognise as the finished article. A script frequently undergoes so many rewrites that the plot, characters or crucial scenes can bear absolutely no resemblance to the originally intended result. Some of the most popular mainstream movies of the past thirty years or so certainly fall into this category. The original scripts, often detailed in directors cuts or bonus documentaries on the special edition DVD, or on film websites, show just how drastically the central characters or crucial plot details were altered - some of them so much so that the premise of the film or beloved scenes became something else entirely. Mostly, but not always, this is a good thing. There are so many examples of altered script drafts changing the direction of a film that it would be impossible to list them all here. I've compiled 5 of the most striking, but feel free to add your own in the comments section below...

I am a freelance writer, currently residing in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. I was raised by wolves in the woodlands of Northumberland, but am still posher than Colin Firth having dinner with The Queen. I write all of my pieces by swallowing a cocktail of scrabble tiles and vodka, then regurgitating them over my jotter. Hope this explains the typos.
