50 Movies Where Evil Won
25. Nearly All Of The Saw Movies
Plot: John Kramer / Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) subjects those whom he believes have wasted their lives through nightmarish death games, hoping to inspire them to become better people.
When it comes to the Saw films, evil is virtually always going to win, as there are terrible people on all sides.
Even if Jigsaw is more sympathetic than most horror villains, he's still repugnant. His games are completely evil, and he's also a massive hypocrite; he claims to give everyone a chance when many of his games were actually unsurvivable for several of the players. His apprentices, Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) and Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor), are even more psychopathic, and some of the people he tests haven't done anything that bad.
That's not to let those in the games off the hook, mind you. As aforementioned, several of Jigsaw's test subjects didn't deserve what they got, but plenty of the others are appalling human beings who should've been in prison long ago. For example, the most recent instalment, Saw X, saw Jigsaw go after a group that scammed dying cancer patients with a fake cure - there's sick, and then there's that.
Basically, whoever wins the game - Jigsaw or his test subjects - evil will probably win. The only possible exception in the franchise is the third film, but only because that one was more a case of everyone loses rather than anyone winning.
