7. Carlito's Way: Rise To Power (2005)

For some reason somebody thought that
Carlito's Way needed a prequel, despite the fact that nobody was really talking about
Carlito's Way in 2005, and there's no real justification for a prequel to exist in any form. The fact that this venture was directed by somebody who doesn't have a clickable Wikipedia page says it all, really. Believe me. I've tried. You can't click that thing. The story taks place in the 1960s, 20 years before De Palma's original, and chronicles the titular character as a heroine dealer. Doesn't sound quite as a horrific as you probably imagined, but the problem with prequels of this sort is that there aren't any stakes: we know Carlito survives, so what's the point? According to the synopsis,
Rise To Power has actors it, but I couldn't see them anywhere.
