7 Horror Sci-Fi Films To Watch Before Alien Covenant

Event Horizon is absolutely nuts.

After a ship known as the Event Horizon emits a disress signal from near Neptune, a rescue team are sent out to investigate the seemingly empty ship. As they explore however, a variety of terrifying supernatural incidents occur, as the crew discover that the Event Horizon's experimental engine has caused a breach in the space-time continuum, effectively opening a portal to hell.

Reminiscent of other reality-warping psychological horrors like In the Mouth of Madness while remaining entirely unique, Event Horizon is unabashedly insane, fully embracing its nutty concept and delivering on the gruesome imagery, high-concept madness and fun performances that its premise promises.

Initially panned upon release, the film has since developed a cult following, and it's not hard to see why. While the film doesn't answer all of the questions it sets up, it's very much about style over substance. And it has that in spades.
