In the run-up to the release of Spider-Man 3, one of the things to get excited about was how the symbiote suit affects Peter Parker. Once fans knew that the black suit would feature prominently, it all but implied that we were going to see a darker version of Peter - traditionally a joy to witness, as seen in the comics and the classic 90s Fox animation. Of course, this was mostly bungled in the movie, as audiences were subjected to not one but two dance sequences where Tobey Maguire prances around like an idiot thanks to the symbiote. That said, there are one or two beats where Maguire and Raimi really nail what a douchebag Pete can be with the symbiote suit on under his civvies, and it's pretty awesome to watch. Case in point, when he has his showdown with Eddie Brock at the Bugle, Peter threatens to expose Brock's fake pictures that made the front cover (falsely implicating Spidey as a bad guy). As Eddie pleads with Peter to let it slide and forgive him, Peter grabs him by the lapel and shoves him against the framed libellous newspaper, growling "You want forgiveness? Get religion." It's a pretty badass moment.
