Probable Explanation: So you're telling me all Belle had to do if she wanted some real adventure is walk down the street. Then she would have been caught up in the whole drama that was unfolding between the gypsies and the church with all the festivals, singing, and gargoyles. That would have been awesome. Instead she gets herself put away as a prisoner and falls in love with a guy who probably has fleas. She may have been a forward thinking Disney heroine with all the free thinking and book learning but that doesn't excuse her blatant laziness. Excitement isn't just going to fall in your lap.
