Michael Gambon is one of those actors who is consistently brilliant in whatever he appears in. His characters are frequently dry and witty with a comedic bent, skills that undoubtedly lend themselves to the role of James Bond.

Back in the seventies, Gambon was drafted by producer Albert Broccoli to potentially take on the role following Connery. At the time, Gambon believed he wasn't attractive enough to play Bond owing to his thinning hair and double chin.

According to Gambon, he was assured by Broccoli that various tricks were used to up the attractiveness of Connery, including veneers and ice bags in order to briefly tighten his chest muscles.

Despite this reassurance, Gambon wasn't chosen for the role, it's still nice to consider that the man famous for Dumbledore could well have also been James Bond.
