9 MCU Characters Who Deserved More Screen Time
2. Quicksilver
What, you didn’t see this coming?
Quicksilver joined the MCU with far more fame and fans than his sister Scarlet Witch, yet Elizabeth Olsen’s sorcerer has gone on to become one of the MCU’s most persistent performers. With Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, she's finally getting her chance to shine away from Avengers centric movies.
Quicksilver though, despite the big name casting of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, only lasted a single film. The FoX-Men movies didn’t get much right, but their portrayal of Quicksilver through Taylor-Johnson’s Kick-Ass co-star Evan Peters was spot on. That, plus the MCU Quicksilver’s short reign, has left Pietro Maximoff a fleeting cinematic memory.
It felt like Hawkeye was being set up for the classic Joss Whedon death, but instead it was Quicksilver sacrificing himself to save him. There’s certainly power in the twist, but it would have meant a lot more had we actually gotten to know Pietro.
To kill off such a major comic character so early was brave, but it’s not without its drawbacks. Would he have ended up stealing Scarlet Witch’s thunder? Maybe, but we’ll never know now.
