Alien: Covenant - Ridley Scott Wants It To Scare The Sh*t Out Of You
Let's hope he succeeds...
Here's some good news for anyone who like their sci-fi horror served with a side of bowel evacuation: Ridley Scott wants to make sure Alien: Covenant scares the bejesus out of its audiences.
The director was introducing a new trailer at CinemaCon as part of Fox's presentation at the event and he didn't mince his words about what he's tried to achieve with the film:
That'd be a damn sight better than when Prometheus confused the sh*t out of everyone.
From the footage shown to the public, the film looks to be heavily channelling the spirit of the original Alien - which means lots of scares, lots of creepiness and lots of impact - and that makes this sequel supremely exciting. It's the kind of movie Alien 3 should have been, and the kind of movie we can only hope Scott continues to make in this franchise.
The good news for Mr Scott is that apparently his agenda to scare was successful, as well as impressing a lot of people in attendance, who revealed some of the details of what they saw...
If Scott's prerebootquel goes as well as it seems to be tracking, those other four movies he has rattling around in his head might well be far more concrete very soon.
Interesting, The Wrap report that the trailer features a creepy voice-over from Michael Fassbender's David:
“The gods have rejected mankind as cruel, weak and full of greed. They are a dying species, grasping for resurrection. So they are leaving the earth forever. But their power is an illusion. They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them.”
