The Batman: 10 Essential Stories For Affleck's 2019 Solo Movie

6. Knightquest

With Affleck playing an older Affleck we could once more be looking at the prospect of a Batman more tuned in to his own mortality thanks to debilitating injury (just as Nolan's Batman did in The Dark Knight Rises). It might be too much to have such a similar thread explored, but Warners could look to Arkham Knight game for a way to develop this tale of a wayward protege. In Knightquest, Batman looks for someone to take over as Batman after his injury at the hands of Bane, and finds an heir apparent in Azrael, whose methods are far darker and more violent, forcing Batman to take on his own chosen heir. It might seem an odd decision to potentially take Ben Affleck out of the Batsuit for a good deal of the film, with Azrael dishing out his own brand of extreme justice, but the ultimate pay-off of having two Batmans at war would make this the kind of opportunity fans would want to see played out. And of course that would further open the possibility of future spin-offs with Azrael already established.
