4. The Entertainment Factor
It may not be the most famous or essential Batman story, but Hush has that sense of enjoyment that the Marvel movies have going for them and which the DC film universe needs in bulk. For those who havent read it, Hush tells the story of a mystery that entangles the entire Bat universe: a new bandage-faced villain named Hush formulates a plot to destroy Batman that involves almost his entire rogues gallery and even some former and current Bat allies. That summary doesnt really do the plot justice because so much happens that to include it all would take another article. Hush is beyond action packed: it opens with Batman rescuing a boy kidnapped by Killer Croc, which in itself would make a phenomenal cinematic opening sequence. An introduction with real punch, like a Bond film. The book has almost too much action and too many characters, so perhaps the best option would be to make this movie a 2-3 part saga, since weve all seen with Spider-Man 3 that trying to cram too many villains all in one movie leads to a mess, and cutting it into chapters means you can have an expansive story without sacrificing character development. Plus if you film the movie all at once you can release a new Batman movie for three years: Warners could spend the budget of one movie for the box office returns of three. Not to mention as a Batman movie fan, we wouldn't have to wait three years for each installment. Oh, and then theres a Batman-Superman fight - what's not to love?
