Big STAR WARS Blu-ray Announcement Coming Tomorrow...

We've know since August that 2011 will mark the Star Wars saga's debut release on Blu-ray but what we haven't been told is exactly what day that will be (though one would think it will be Christmas, like the DVD transfers from 2004). Now it's been reported that a legion of Stormtroopers and the evil Lord Vader himself will be descending upon the Panasonic Booth at the Consumer Electronics Show tomorrow (Thursday, January 6th, 2011) where a major Star Wars Blu-ray announcement is to be made. No prizes for guessing it'll be the very public Blu-ray release announcement (i.e. - one that could make it onto t.v. news pieces), the exact date of the release and the high probability that there'll be a 3D transfer. Here's the invitation that was sent out to press for the event... If there was a God, there would also be an announcement that LucasFilm have changed their minds about the set only including the 2004, heavily tinkered, digital versions of the original trilogy in the set but Lucas would rather we double-dipped in four years time for that, so it ain't happening. The good news is the release will come from Fox as their next major Blu-ray upgrade after their fantastic Alien box set, which is the high-def highlight of the year for me.
