Every Cancelled John Carpenter Film We NEVER Got To See
4. Helloween
After acquiring the rights for Halloween and Hellraiser, Dimension Films got the ball rolling with a Michael Myers/Pinhead crossover. Both properties were in the toilet at the time, so this was the perfect opportunity to revitalise Halloween and Hellraiser. 2003's Freddy vs. Jason made bank, strengthening the argument that this project could make a fortune.
Rather than being a blatant cash-grab, Helloween (as fans called it) had potential, since studios pushed Hellraiser director and creator, Clive Barker, to write the script. Carpenter was in semi-retirement at the time, but expressed interest in Helloween, so long as the movie leaned into myth and atmosphere rather than being a glossy spectacle.
Now, it's not certain how this crossover could've actually worked. Sure, Michael Myers is a force to be reckoned with, but Pinhead should overpower him with ease, due to being endowed with an abundance of cosmic abilities. But if anyone could figure this potential plothole out, it would be the creators behind the iconic villains.
Sadly, we'll never know how Michael Myers vs. Pinhead would've fared, since the film never moved beyond informal conversations.
