20 Movies Critics HATE But Audiences LOVE

Warcraft is yet another video game movie that failed to make a dent with critics but fans of the source material largely had a good time with.

With a mere 29% critical approval, most reviewers found Duncan Jones' lavish fantasy epic to be a chaotic and yet strangely dull mess of clunky plotting, cliched characters, and unremarkable world-building.

Audiences, though, gave Warcraft a fair 76% rating, clearly expressing far greater enthusiasm for the simple joy of seeing the IP they love so much represented on the big screen, even if the script wasn't up to much and it was far from a total home run.

It still made enough of an impression with fans that they clung on for news about a planned sequel, and though Warcraft grossed $439.1 million worldwide, a follow-up never got the greenlight, presumably because this figure just wasn't enough of a return on its $160 million budget in the pre-pandemic climate.
