Engage the STAR TREK bootleg trailer... NOW...

UPDATE: The trailer will be available in HD at the official Star Trek site on 17th November! For now, you'll have to make do with the bootleg version over at Youtube... This bootleg may not be online for long, so get watching right away. I don't want to say too much before I see the trailer in the theatre or maybe on High Definition on Monday but that wasn't quite what I was expecting. It feels just so uneven, or maybe my reaction to it is so uneven. I like how much more epic it feels, I dig all that but I can't help but think you take something away from Kirk by giving him the standard youth rebel who is destined for bigger things arc. Basically, it looks like a J.J. Abrams directed version of Trek, something we probably all should have expected since day one...

Chris Pine doesn't quite anything like the presence William Shatner had. You can't help but wonder whether going younger, instead of casting Matt Damon, who was simply perfect for a Trek reboot, was a bad call.
