After the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. decided to follow suit with their own cinematic universe, first with Green Lantern, and then with Man of Steel after the former failed critically and commercially. The expansion of the universe continued with 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which brought the two superheroes together on the big screen for the first time whilst setting up a Justice League team up.
The universe has continued to produce movies, with eight films currently released under the DC Extended Universe umbrella, featuring actors such as Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa and Margot Robbie. Continued additions to the universe are also planned, with Wonder Woman 1984 due to release next on the schedule.
While the DCEU has brought forward the first live action and big screen adaptations of numerous popular characters, DC has seen their films being met with mixed reactions from both critics and fans. Numerous critics have critiqued some of the films for poor characterisation, convoluted storytelling and wooden performances. However, the films have also been praised for thinking outside of the box, and some of the performances have been spectacular.
Here are the Rotten Tomatoes scores of all the DC Extended Universe films released (so far).
