Every Pixar Hero Ranked From Worst To Best
20. Arlo (The Good Dinosaur)
A Pixar dinosaur seems like a total slam-dunk character on paper, and yet The Good Dinosaur's Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) turned out to be one of their more divisive protagonists to date.
While Arlo's arc throughout the story has its slyly affecting moments, it's pretty standard Animated Movie fare.
But crucially, many viewers were rankled by both Arlo's cartoonish appearance compared to his impressively photoreal surroundings, and especially a voice that many felt didn't suit the character (no offence to voice actor Raymond Ochoa).
It feels a bit mean to call Arlo "boring," but he just can't hold a candle to even Pixar's mid-tier heroes - he's functional but lacks the spark and personality that define even the studio's less-good protagonists.
The issues can in part be blamed on The Good Dinosaur's chaotic production, where major changes were made to the story even mere months before it was released, including almost the entire voice cast being replaced.
Arlo, in fact, was originally voiced by then-29-year-old actor Lucas Neff before Pixar decided to re-imagine the character with a younger voice actor.
