Every Pixar Movie Ranked Worst To Best
10. Up (2009)
Though it never fully lives up to its painfully iconic, soul destroying prologue, Up is still a rollicking good movie with more than enough charm and thrilling action to (excuse me) keep itself afloat. The image of Carl's house being lifted into the sky by a countless parade of colourful balloons deserves to be remembered as one of Pixar's most enduring images.
Up is a pretty standard Pixar adventure, with protagonist Carl coming face-to-face with his old idol turned nemesis as he tries to protect young explorer Russell from harm. But its predictable side is more than made up for by that opening montage - which, for all its parodies and recognition, is as emotionally stinging now as it was twelve years ago - and Carl's final wish to honour his wife.
Pixar films have always had a tragic edge, but none surpass the sheer teary-eyed drama of Up.
