Fast & Furious Franchise: 20 Greatest Action Sequences Ranked
9. Hobbs & Shaw - Another London Chase
This sequence, which sees Luke Hobbs, Deckard Shaw and Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby), who is Deckard's sister, in a car being pursued by Brixton and his henchmen on motorbikes, is one of the best things in the whole movie.
Hobbs & Shaw delivered the franchise's third London action sequence... but this one was even better than the ones from Fast & Furious 6.
After all, those didn't have the dynamite double-act of Johnson and Statham at its forefront. And they didn't have the characters roping down the side of a skyscraper, or motorbikes flying into buses, or that insane drift turn under two moving lorries.
This chase scene gets nearly everything right. The chemistry and banter between the three leads in the car is infectiously fun, David Leitch's direction is wonderfully smooth, the stunts hit hard and due to just how vulnerable the group are in the face of Brixton, who's a cybernetically-enhanced super-soldier, high stakes run through the whole scene.
Hobbs and Shaw was more focused on comedy than the rest of the films in the series, but it certainly didn't disappoint on the action front.
