Just keep swimming...

Weeks after it was released in the US, Finding Dory has come to Europe, and it looks set to capture another big slice of the family movie box office pot of gold. Critics have responded well, digging the film's spirit, heart and humour and despite the distance between the two films, it is a fitting sequel that continues the story of the original and adds just enough freshness to make the familiarity easy to ignore.

It's nostalgic in the right ways, innovative and beautiful and because it's a Pixar, it's packed full of references, Easter Eggs and in-jokes that are part of the studio's favourite currency. And inevitably, there's a lot of pleasure to be had in spotting them as the film goes by.

Let's start with one that's definitely NOT in the film, shall we?

Still, a great April Fool's gag all the same. Now on to the real Eggs...

26. The Piper Poster

Finding Dory, as ever, comes with a beautiful little short film attached on the front. This time, it's called Piper, and follows a sandpiper bird as it learns to fend for itself and hunt for food. It's another big win for the studio.

Dory also references back to the short. Once more in the background of the Institute there's a poster for the little bird's film hanging when Hank rescues Dory from quarantine and takes her to the map in a coffee pot.
