(Spoilers ahead in this article if you do not want to know about possible events in the movie) Images from the North Carolina set of Shane Black's "Iron Man 3" reveal that the red, white and blue Iron Patriot armour will be making an appearance in the film. First appearing in 2009's "Dark Avengers #1", the costume was actually part of Marvel Comics' "Secret Invasion" crossover storyline where it was actually worn by Norman Osborn, aka Green Goblin. He was mistakenly celebrated as a true American hero with the Captain America style suit design, leading a group of government sanctioned Avengers that used technology from Stark Industries. Of course that would be impossible to depict in "Iron Man 3" as the Osborn characters is owned by Sony Pictures on screen, though set photo reveals actually give away the identity of who it is that will be donning the costume instead. See them below... The images reveal that the armour is being worn by actor James Badge Dale, who we already know plays the character of Eric Savin in the movie. In the comics Savin becomes the cyborg villain Coldblood, though it could be that for Iron Man 3 we will see a merging of the Coldblood character and Iron Patriot into one baddie. Meanwhile further news regarding "Iron Man 3" has come in from Latino Review, the site who first broke the story that the movie would be based on Warren Ellis' "Extremis" storyline. They say they have heard from a crew member that Sir. Ben Kingsley, the first new actor cast for the film, will actually be portraying the iconic villain The Mandarin and that he will not be the primary baddie in the film. This goes against previous reports that he would be playing Mallen in the film. They say Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian is the main focus with The Mandarin being the man in the shadows mainly who might get his time in the sun in "Iron Man 4". Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton and Jon Favreau. Iron Man 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
