Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Won't Have Any Infinity Stones

To infinity...? Nope.

For anyone hoping to see Thanos in the Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel, James Gunn has got some bad news for you.

Appearing once more on his Facebook page, the director has been answering some more questions about the film, and confirms that though Thanos is very much escalating his activities in the wider MCU, he won't be appearing in Vol 2. It's just not his story:

“There will be no Infinity Stones in Vol 2... there will be infinity nothing. It’s a story about the Guardians and isn’t meant to lead to anything else”.

Marvel must be delighted, given that they've got a massive event coming up that is supposed to be involving the Guardians and the director seems to be keeping hold of his toys. Didn't Edgar Wright lose his Ant-Man gig for not tying into the rest of the MCU?

Right... So, what about the one that's currently on Xandar? Does that mean we're going to see Thanos attack the planet in Infinity War to retrieve it? He surely has to, right? So in a way this is sort of semi-confirmation that we have to see more supporting Guardians characters in Infinity War (unless they're going to just Alderaan the place out of existence.)

You can see the rest of Gunn's responses right here.
