Harry Potter: 10 Most Powerful Slytherin Students

3. Severus Snape

If you were to ask anyone who their favourite Harry Potter characters were, you'd hear almost all of them mention the incomparable Severus Snape. This overly dark and severe wizard was a massive part of what made the series so delightful, and he backed that status up by being an incredibly powerful magic wielder.

Severus seemed to be second-fiddle only to Dumbledore and McGonagall in Hogwarts, meaning that he was the school's best example of a Slytherin student climbing through the ranks. Even from a young age, he had an incredible knack for potion brewing, defence against the dark arts and Legilimency. This carried through into his later life as he became one of the most well-rounded wizards in the world.

Of course, other than being a magical genius, he also used Slytherin's most vital trait (cunning) to the utmost degree, infiltrating the court of Voldemort himself and playing a pivotal role in his downfall.

Overall, Snape was a natural genius and a hard worker. He was also physically skilled and intellectually superior. But, most importantly of all, unlike many of his Slytherin peers, he had a solid moral compass, a strength many of them lacked.
