20 Horror Sequels That Took FOREVER To Get Made

Gore Verbinski's The Ring remains one of the most surprisingly effective horror remakes of all time, and though it was both a critical and commercial success, its 2005 sequel The Ring Two was a dire misfire, even with original Ringu director Hideo Nakata at the helm.

But The Ring Two was still a decent box office hit, and so it was a fair assumption that the IP would be exploited until there was nothing left to bleed from it.

Yet that wasn't quite what happened. Fans had to wait another 12 years for another American Ring movie, with Rings finally releasing in 2017.

This soft reboot absolutely had potential to bring the franchise back to mainstream prominence, yet it was near-universally panned - and for good reason.

Even though Rings was a solid box office hit, we've gone almost another full decade without a new Ring movie, which is a bit of a travesty considering the franchise's enduring, iconic appeal.
