I love it when a new movie is described as being MOVIE X meets MOVIE Y, just for the sheer diverse images the pairing represents in your mind. For example, I loved it when
Hot Fuzz was described as being
Lethal Weapon meets
The Wicker Man... you just stop and think to yourself, "WOW, that would be an awesome movie".
Kyle Rankin's new movie Infestation has been described as being
28 Days Later meets
Shaun of the Dead, which confuses me just a little bit because aren't the two movies strikingly similar? I mean they are both about zombies, the only difference being one is comedy and one is serious... I'm guessing Infestation is in the middle somewhere? From
The Hollywood Reporter through
Coming Soon...
Infestation follows a slacker who awakes to find himself weak, wrapped in webbing and cocooned to the wall of his office. After realizing that the world has been taken over by giant alien insects, he wakes a ragtag group of strangers and together they fight for survival.
Christopher Marquette (pictured left) has been cast as said slacker. This movie sounds really fun, I think we can all relate to the feeling of being tied down to our desks and work, when we would much rather be outside playing in the sun. I'm guessing that's what the movie is going to be about anyway, just like Shaun of the Dead's message was for us not to sleep through our lives. And of course there's giant alien insects, so it's all good!
