John Stalberg Jr is yet to receive international distribution for his debut feature High School, which screened last year at Sundance to decent reviews; never the less, expectations are sufficiently high that the writer/director
is already attached to a new high school comedy project-
Spanking Shakespeare. Based on the novel of the same name by author
Jake Wizner, Spanking Shakespeare is the story of the unfortunately named Shakespeare Shapiro who inadvertently becomes the face of an anti-college revolution when his online diary becomes an internet sensation. A script by
Dan Lagana (Good Vibes) is already completes but is currently being re-written by Stalberg himself. The Paramount Studios production is being produced by Mark Canton (Atmosphere Entertainment) and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (Gotham Group). No date has been suggested for production, and no actors have so far been linked with the project. Stalbergs High School should be available on limited release in the coming months through Parallel Media.
