Judi Dench Joins Eastwood's J. EDGAR

Don't be fooled by Clint Eastwood's forthcoming biopic J. Edgar not being listed in our most anticipated movies of 2011 article, the film is very much on our radar and we like how it's shaping up so far. Leonardo DiCaprio has been on board for a while as the titular former head of the FBI and The Social Network's break-out thespian Armie Hammer will be Edgar's assistant/life long close friend & possible closeted lover Clyde Tolson. Australian actor Damon Herriman (from the show 'Justified') is Bruno Hauptmann, the man who kidnapped and killed the Linderbergh baby and Charlize Theron has been in talks for the part of Helen Gandy, Edgar's loyal secretary. Now we can add Judi Dench to the cast, with Eastwood hinting that he is winning the battle for Theron's signature...
€œWe think she will be in the film And Judi Dench is definitely in the film and there we are.€
Eastwood is trying to convince Theron to appear in his film over the fairytale tentpole Snow White and The Huntsmen where she was due to play the Evil Queen but with the Huntsmen role being vacated by Tom Hardy and then later Michael Fassbender over scheduling, that one looks like an easy film for Theron to drop. Filming on J. Edgar begins in February and with the speed at which Eastwood works, you can bet your ass it'll be out before the end of 2011.
