Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars: The Last Jedi most certainly split the property's fan base in a way like no other.

Granted, the reception to The Rise of Skywalker has been hugely mixed, but The Last Jedi was the first time that there was so much of an angst-riddled split amongst Star Wars fans. If you liked that movie, you had to be an idiot. And likewise, if you hated that movie, you had to be an idiot.

Whatever your thoughts on The Last Jedi were, there was a huge amount of people eagerly dying to take to Twitter to tell you just how wrong you were about the film.

As a result of all of this, Trevorrow was quietly ushered out of the director's chair before he could start filming his TLJ follow-up that had begun early development - that gap being filled by a returning J.J. Abrams.

Abrams would spin Episode IX into a little movie called The Rise of Skywalker, yet this picture was vastly different to what Trevorrow had conceived that ninth film to be. Titled Star Wars: Dual of the Fates - named after the iconic John Williams musical number - some new concept art has surfaced online to give a glimpse at what audiences would have seen in this vastly different closing chapter of the Skywalker Saga.
