One of my favourite video games of all time is
Mortal Kombat. I use to spend hours upon hours playing it on my snes (i miss that console) and I totally loved the first movie when I was a kid. Much like the great
Marsters of the Universe, it is still a big guilty pleasure movie for me, and I will from time to time revisit the film and have lots of fun with it. Then came
Mortal Kombat 2 and it totally sucked effectively killing the franchise.....until now!
Moviehole is reporting that the franchise will go the way of
Batman and
James Bond by shooting a prequel movie, currently titled
Mortal Kombat : Devastation. The movie is set to be based on the character
SUB-ZERO!!! (who was always my favourite character. who didn't love to freeze people and then kick the crap out of them?). As much as I do like Sub-Zero, I don't see anyway that a movie based on the character could work. The character is suppose to be mysterious and doesn't suit much dialogue which could make for one hell of a boring movie. I would have loved to have seen him as a big villain in the movie, but not as the lead!! So anyone looking forward to seeing Mortal Kombat back on our screens? Who was your favourite Kombat character....
