Oscars 2019: Predicting The 10 Best Popular Films Nominees

6. Bumblebee

Avengers Infinity War Thanos
Paramount Pictures

This may be a bit naive and optimistic, but we're hopeful !*$% it.

With Bay finally gone, a great director onboard, and a stellar debut trailer under its belt, there's reason to believe that Bumblebee might finally deliver the live-action Transformers movie that fans have been waiting for for decades. It looks to be taking a streamlined approach to everything from the design of the Transformers, to the number of characters, to the core emotions of the film itself.

Director Travis Knight has produced and animated some of the more acclaimed non-Pixar animated films of the last decade, with ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls, and his directorial debut with Kubo and the Two Strings earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Film.

And let's be honest, even if this isn't as great as many hope it will be, there's still a solid chance of this being nominated here. The Academy has yet to reveal the precise requirements for being considered a 'popular' film, but chances are that it will wind up limiting their potential candidates pretty quickly and leaving them with a glorified superlative.

Which means after five widely derided films, Habro may be able to call it's franchise 'Oscar-nominated' sooner rather than later.
