Peter Jackson's next movie goes to auction

ddd.jpgIt's a shame Peter Jackson has chosen to shoot The Lovely Bones as his next film, as the movies he has talked about filming over the course of the last year have been far more exciting. Nevertheless, he has been desperate to shoot this movie for quite some time. It was originally suppose to be filmed in between Lord of the Rings and King Kong. The news from Bloody Disgusting is that his spec script for the adaptation of Alice Sebold's 2000 novel is about to be branded around studio's, which is likely to course a huge bidding war. (except for New Line, who are still bitterly entangled with a legal dispute with Peter Jackson over LOTR). Because after all, it's Peter Jackson... he can make a small fortune for your studio. The rather macabre book is said to be an utterly fascinating read and emotional read...
In 1973, a 14-year-old girl named Susie Salmon is raped, murdered, and dismembered by a neighbor serial killer. Over the next few years she watches from a personalized heaven as her family and friends deal with their grief.
Well, there's no hobbitsNo dragons attacking 19th century maritime ships. No futuristic aliens vs. human warfareNo WWII fighter planes (although to be fair the latter two on this list, he was always just lined up to produce and not direct). Oh well, The Lovely Bones still sounds interesting... and of course it's Peter Jackson for god's sake!
