Poll: Do You Prefer 2D or 3D Films?
It’s said now that over 50% of audiences will buy the 2D tickets of a 3D film as opposed to the 3D version. But which do you prefer?
At a risk of doing something investigative, topical and interesting (or what normal people call proper journalism) I am currently conducting research on the decline of 3D ticket sales in the film industry. Its said now that over 50% of audiences will buy the 2D tickets of a 3D film as opposed to the 3D version. Some people blame the expense (with 3D tickets costing at some retailers £3 more without glasses, it isnt a shock), others blame the lack of quality. As you pay a lot of extra money to see a little piece of scenery look slightly closer to your face for 1 second of a 2 ½ hour movie and then spend the rest of the time waiting for something else interesting to happen (or what I like to call, Avatar). So what I would like to know is this; on average, do you buy 3D or 2D tickets for the cinema? Also it would highly benefit my research if you commented on why you choose the one you did. Do you think 3D has potential, and you buying its tickets keep studio faith in the medium for them to improve it? Do you think 3D adds a lot to the narrative? Do you think 3D is pointless? Would you like to see it more but its too expensive? Please comment below and share your opinions.
