7. Chewie Is Holding Han's Medal At The End

Another thing the movie really could've done a hell of a lot better was "giving Chewie his medal", because as it stands, Maz just randomly remembers - a good 34 years after it happened - that Chewbacca never got his medal after destroy the first Death Star.

However, as the book details when mentioning that Leia kept Han Solo's medal nearby after his passing, it's THIS medal that ends up in Chewie's hands.

Look close in the film and you'll see Leia passes away while holding the medal on her deathbed, too.

All-round it's a much better framing of the transference of these awards, and the fact Chewie is left holding the symbol of his best friend's most public good deed is pretty masterful.
