Rodriguez working on Madman adaptation
Another day, another comic adaptation from a series I have never heard of... Variety are reporting that George Huang will direct an adaptation of the superhero comic series Madman, with Robert Rodriguez on board to produce through his Troublemaker Studio's. Rodriguez bought the rights to the flick way back in 1998. More info from Coming Soon... "Madman is a post-modernist reimagining of the Frankenstein tale, with a superhero twist. The title character, killed in a car accident, is reanimated by an eccentric doc who names him Frank Einstein and instills in him enhanced senses, psychic power and exceptional physical skills. The doc can't fix his creature's face, so Madman wears a costume modeled after his fave superhero to hide his scars". The movie will be shot entirely on digital film (like Sin City) and at this year's San Francisco Wondercon the series creator Mike Allred mentioned that the lead role had already been cast with "the star of 2003's biggest money-making " on board. 2003's biggest earner was Return of the King, so if true does that mean it's either Elijah Wood or Viggo Mortensen. Of is "star" a bit lose, and it could be anyone from that cast? Hard to imagine Viggo Mortensen in a superhero movie but Elijah Wood I could see. Guess we will soon find out, things seem to be moving along quite quickly for this project now. source - variety, coming soon
