Simon Cowell developing Star Struck

Simon Cowell and his huge ego want this on film? You just know this is Cowell just trying to get himself in his own movie... The Hollywood Reporter claim that Cowell is producing a 'behind the scenes' movie version of a T.V. signing competition in the vain of 'Idol' and 'X-Factor' which will be titled Star Struck. The casting for the flick will actually work like one of the shows, as casting calls will be open worldwide for them to judge on which actor/singer they think will be suited for the part but at the same time the embarrassing one's are likely to end up at the opening of the movie. Cowell has some quotes which I've stolen below...

"The story is told through the eyes of those 10 contestants," said Cowell...We want it to be the musical version of 'Rocky' -- an underdog story, a feel-good film." " 'Fame' was all about young people wanting to be famous, and in order to do that, they enrolled in a drama school...The difference 25 years later is that everyone who wants to be famous today signs up for 'American Idol.' " "The most important thing for the film was the timing...We decided that next summer will be the right time to launch it."
No studio has yet to pick up the film but apparently there has been much interest in it. I really have no desire to see on the big screen what I religiously avoid watching every weekend and honestly, this just sounds exactly like the T.V. show? We can get embarrassing auditions and cheer for the people we want to win on our small screen for free, I see no incentive for anyone paying their money to watch Simon Cowell in a movie for two hours.
