Stallone signs up for RAMBO 5?
In an utterly confusing and typically uninformative article from The Hollywood Reporter today, it's been reported that Sylvester Stallone has made a lucrative agreement to star in two future action projects at Nu Image/Millennium Films, the studio behind the latest RAMBO movie. It's currently not known what those action projects are but obviously my first instinct is a RAMBO 5, something that Stallone has been less opposed to than another ROCKY movie.
The trades say a couple of scripts are currently in circulation with the recent WGA interim making it possible to work on these projects whilst the big studio's are still restricted from putting pen to paper. Production is expected to be up and running before the end of the fall. Which is all very interesting. Stallone in the past has made it quite known that he wanted his next two projects to be a remake of the Charles Bronson classic DEATH WISH and his long talked about biopic of Edgar Allen Poe. Has the lure of big money tempted Stallone back into an action franchise instead, specifically another RAMBO movie or is it simply that he couldn't get the funding off the ground for the other two projects? Do we want to see RAMBO continue on the big screen? Those who have seen the last movie... was it a fitting end to the character, or remarkably after four movies is there still avenues to explore?
