3. Forest Whitaker = Yoda

Though he's got a (rumoured) robo-leg, wears sweet battle-scarred heavy armour and is far more recognisably human, Forest Whitaker appears to be playing a Yoda stand-in. He's the sage old loner who Jyn seemingly turns to for guidance (or to ask him to join her rag-tag crew), who warns her not to over-reach.

There's also a distinct parallel with the Force. Despite the fact that we're being led to believe that it will play only a nominal role in Rogue One, the same ideas are still at play, particularly in terms of a moral code and the dangers of ignoring calls for restraint.

Whether we'll see this old war dog fighting again remains to be seen, but he's an immediately striking character, and there's the faintest hint that he's the key to the mystery of Jyn's past.
