TERMINATOR IV to be PG-13

For the benefit of the kids merchandising and those elusive McDonalds deals only!

Going the same route as the terrible Live Free or Die Hard will be next year's new Terminator movie which officially begins production today with the The Halcyon Co. aiming for a PG-13 classification. Presumably the over $1 billion the first three R-RATED movies in the series made is not enough for them and there decision to shoot it in such a manner to appease and entice a kid friendly audience, is pretty sickening.

After it's move from a hardcore, tough and adult action film series - the much tamer, boring and cartoon-ish last installment of the Die Hard series ended up being the highest grossing ... taking in well over $300 million worldwide. The Halcyon Co. believe Terminator can benefit just the same and conviently ship more toys, video games, McDonald deals etc. The news sucks - once you begin crafting a film so it can benefit merchandising, it's always going to be to the determent of the final product. However, let's remember that The Dark Knight is a PG-13 and it still looks pretty hardcore, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they could deliver a good PG-13 version of this universe. Still, I would have gone R-Rated all the way with this. source - variety
