Some Batman info I have learnt this week from
Batman on Film(there are potential spoilers in this post about The Joker's look, so don't read this article if you are sensitive to such information)...The Dark Knight website is now live, and it gives us our first official glimpse at the movie. In truth it's just the Bat symbol logo, but still it's nice to something official. I don't know if they have tweaked it much, but it looks even cooler than it did for
Batman Begins. Also, it hints at the colour scheme for this flick being blue, rather than the gold/black type we got for the last flick. That might not be true, it's just what I take from this image. Second tidbit is the Joker's look. Taken from an extra out in Chicago...
"I'll say that it resembled THE CROW in that it looked like the character did it himself, but it wasn't 'THE CROW makeup' (as I look again at pictures from THE CROW, I think part of it is that Ledger's facial structure with the white makeup resembles Brandon Lee's). All of the makeup looked like the character used stuff you could buy at a store, and did it himself. The white went about mid-neck. He had a dark blue around his eyes, giving them a sunken, slightly demented look. The red smile was a thick (1/2") arc from mid-cheekbone to mid-cheekbone. It looked like the character grabbed a red stick of clown makeup and drew on a 'smile.' His hair was a greenish brown that looked like a poorly done home dye job. Overall, I thought the makeup looked like the character was trying to draw something that resembled the masks (of which, I assume you have see pics)."
Interesting, and does sound pure
Christopher Nolan. This joker is going to be a very character driven and I believe Nolan will make sure that the look of
Heath Ledger will be more akin to the type of character in the movie, over the look of the character in the comics. And finally, some unconfirmed and disturbing reports about the movie's release date here in Britain. Remember in the U.S, the film opens July 18th...
Brazil - July 18, 2008 Egypt - July 23, 2008 UK - July 25, 2008 Germany - July 31, 2008 Japan - September 20, 2008
U.K. getting it here a WHOLE WEEK later. Man, I don't know if I could wait that long. Although my birthday falls on July 25th and that would be absolutely awesome... watching my favourite ever literary and film character on screen. If the whole of the world was getting the movie on that date, then this would be the best news I've heard in ages... but with getting it a week late... I feel like sloppy seconds.
