1. The Brendan Fraser Movies Are Better
The worst thing that can ultimately be said about the new Mummy is that it'll most likely have you wishing you were watching the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies instead, especially the first one.
The 1999 Mummy was tonally balanced, fun, action-packed, had a great female lead and actually left the audience wanting more movies, which is basically the exact opposite of what this reboot achieves.
It's somewhat understandable why Universal didn't bring Fraser back for more movies, but they cynically thought they could hurl Tom Cruise at a nothing-script and make an easy $600 million. It's probably not going to happen, and even if it does, Fraser's movies are still better.
As bad as the movie generally is, though, it's not without a few bright spots...
