STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE 3D Official Poster Artwork Revealed

It’s only five months now before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D reaches cinemas next February and to whet our appetites a newly designed teaser poster has appeared.

George Lucas€™ constant tinkering with his sci-fi saga continues with the much anticipated theatrical re-release of the Star Wars films in stereoscopic 3D. It€™s only five months now before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D reaches cinemas next February and to whet our appetites a newly designed teaser poster has appeared online courtesy of the official site StarWars.com. Sadly the exquisite original design of Drew Struzan€™s poster artwork has been jettisoned for a frankly piss poor photoshopped effort that looks more like a piece of lame fan artwork than an official Lucasfilm endorsed product. It is a totally slapdash affair that does not even include many of the film€™s key players. Just by putting Darth Maul front and centre doesn€™t mean we have forgotten Jar Jar Binks is in the film and where are Liam Neeson or Natalie Portman or Jake Lloyd surely they are more relevant to this film than Ewan McGregor, R2-D2 and Yoda. In slightly better news, it has also been revealed this week that Episode I€™s favourite Sith Lord Darth Maul is make a return to the Star Wars universe in the latest season of The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. According to the official website;

€œThe decision to continue Darth Maul€™s story was something that came directly from George, and we all agreed that his return needed to be unique, unexpected and revenge filled. We don€™t know what his outcome will be, and as a fan €“ that€™s exciting.€
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0HJoli7OwI At least The Clone Wars is moving the Star Wars saga forward and it€™s certainly more exciting than the prospect of having to shell out more money to see The Phantom Menace even if it is in 3D, which let's face it is getting pretty tired now.
