Piranha 3D 'survivors'

Ving Rhames (wait.... didn't he die in the first one????) and
Paul Scheer (who was set to die in the original but his demise was cut out of the final print, meaning he inexplicably disappeared from the film) will now reprise their roles for the currently shooting sequel,
Piranha 3DD. Dimension sent out a press release yesterday. Seriously though and I know this is a franchise that has no logic but just how does Ving Rhames return? Will Dr. Emmet Brown go back in time and stop him dying? Will it be a twin? (conspiracy theorists already believe his character in the Day of the Dead remake is the twin brother discussed in the Dawn of the Dead remake). I mean clearly the implication is that he is dead.
