10 Best Pokémon To Beat Generation 1

8. Eevee/Jolteon

Type(s): Normal (Eevee), Electric (Jolteon).

Location(s): Celadon City (Eevee).

Eevee is any easy inclusion for any Generation 1 team due to it being obtainable for free. In the Celadon Mansion in Celadon City, the player can find a Pokéball sitting on a desk containing this Pokémon, and, other than your own guilt, nothing is stopping you from simply taking this rare Pokémon. It’s certainly recommended if you have any plans to complete the Pokédex for Professor Oak any time soon as this is the only location you can encounter the Pokémon.

In Generation 1, Eevee only has access to three of its evolutions, a total which has been boosted to eight in future generations. Of the three, Jolteon is the best for your team. Assuming Squirtle was your starter Pokémon, there is no reason for you to double up on the Water typing with a Vaporeon. Flareon’s main drawback is its stats. Due to the nature of how Pokémon moves work in Generation 1, all Fire type moves are classified as ‘Special’ attacks. This means Flareon has no Fire type moves to take advantage of its Attack stat of 130.

Jolteon, on the other hand, has a Special stat of 110, and a Speed stat of 130. It also has access to moves like ‘ThunderShock’ and ‘Thunder’ by level up, as well as being able to learn ‘Thunderbolt’ by TM - a TM the player gets freely for defeating Lt. Surge.
