1. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - 14.28 Million Units
At the very top of the sales mountain on the Xbox 360 is yet another installment in the Call of Duty franchise, which goes to show how truly dominant the first-person-shooting series has been in the last decade, considering each entry in the Modern Warfare franchise is on this list. At a projected 14.28 million units sold, 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 stands as the most bought game on the Xbox 360. Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare and MW2 obviously sold well and were highly praised, probably why Activision had the largest day-one shipments and pre-orders for game ever recorded at the time, due to the massive hype and anticipation for MW3. In terms of sheer gross and revenue, Modern Warfare 3 went on to gross $1 billion in just 16 days of release, which beat Avatar's record of 19 days for a media release, according to Activision. Activision president and CEO Robert Kotick said this at a press conference 'the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the biggest entertainment launch of all time in any medium, and we achieved this record with sales from only two territories'. MW3's domination of the Xbox 360 market is suiting, as it arguably stands as the high-point of the Infinity Ward developed games, before the worse-received Call of Duty: Ghosts came along.
