10 Best Video Games With An Unseen Enemy

8. Baldur's Gate

Though Bhaal is a name well-known by Baldur's Gate fans, the violent god is a quintessential shadow-villain who is responsible for setting the series' plot in motion despite being totally absent - on a count of being dead and all.

The "Bhaalspawn Saga" - comprising the first two games and their respective expansions - is concerned with Bhaal's mortal children aka Bhaalspawn, each of whom houses a fragment of Bhaal's divine essence.

Bhaal's posthumous plan for resurrection involves having each of the Bhaalspawn killed, releasing their essence back into the world, and allowing him to be brought back to life through a ritual.

Aside from some very brief glimpses of Bhaal, he's been a quintessential unseen enemy throughout the Bhaalspawn Saga - totally pivotal in the machinations of the story and yet nowhere to be seen for understandable reasons.
